Science Experiments should be dramatic and exciting........!

Thomas had science homework at the weekend. He had to do an experiment. Great, he thought, excitement in the kitchen!

He had to make a cup of very strong tea and cool it.

In 4 glasses he had to put one of the following in each - Dishwashing powder, floor cleaner, lemon juice and vinegar.

He had to add 30 mls of cold tea to each and watch and record what happened.

Ok, so what did happen?

Not a hell of a lot!!

The only noticeable recording was that the one with the dishwash powder in got warm but no fizzing, no popping, no disgusting gases entered the atmosphere and definitely no explosions rocked the house!

He did his recordings the best he could as I photographed the whole thing, wondering all the while if maybe he had done something wrong for there to be no dramatic response to the whole thing.

Today he handed the assignment in and asked the teacher "so.... what exactly was supposed to happen during that experiment then?"

Teacher said "not much, they just changed colour"

OMG get real! The time and effort involved just to notice that the substance changed colour when you added dark brown cold tea to it just wasn't worth it!
