Our day on Sunday

Wow, what a snowfall we had yesterday. Usually once a year we see a little bit of snow during winter, and yesterday was it.

The day started off a balmy 18 degrees with a warm nor west wind blowing, then by 3.30pm it was snowing like you wouldn't believe and a wind chill of minus 8 at least! But this morning dawned sunny and bright and the snow was a pretty sight.

This afternoon we all went up on the city's gondola for an hour or so to see the view from there, and it was worth it.

The view over to Lyttelton port was just amazing as was the view over the city of Christchurch.

We visited the gondola 3 weeks ago for an outing for me for Mother's Day after not having been up there for over 2 years. It was $55 for our family for a return trip which is quite an expensive outing. We decided to purchase a family yearly pass that day for just $99 and luckily just paid the $44 difference when we reached the ticket counter on our return journey. The pass gives us all unlimited rides on the gondola and the City Tram for a whole year. We have just had our 3rd trip on the gondola in 3 weeks, a great outing for a Sunday coffee!

Hi charlie and family, i just love all the photographs on your blog. You have been busy lately. I do hope katie has lovely straight teeth when her braces come off. We had a great week in Lanzarote. Just a distant memory now. My brother Michael is in Turkey at the moment. Keep up the good work.eileen
