Tramping in Winter

Today Thomas went away with his friend Jack and his Dad Malcolm on an overnight tramp to The Pinnacles Hut. It was a beautiful clear sunny day, they checked the weather forecast and all was good.

They drove an hour and a half to the car park and headed off up the hills on a 3 1/2 hour tramp to the hut they would spend the night in.

Unfortunately the higher up they got the more snow there was on the ground, many trees had fallen on the track making it hard to navigate, and after 3 hours of tramping, eventually through heavy snow, they found they were only halfway there - so slow the going was.






















































Malcolm decided that it was safer if they discontinue with their intentions and walk back to where they parked the car.




































Despite the plans changing, Thomas had a fabulous day! They plan to tackle the overnighter again in the spring or summer! It made for beautiful photos though!
