Saturday night under the stars!

Saturday was another scorcher in Christchurch and Al and Toby spent most of the day clearing the lawn area in front of our house. Toby even moved the letterbox to the other side of our driveway!

The council trees planted on the berm in front of the properties in our street are covered in moss and this has consequently got into our lawn and when we sprayed it last season it made it all patchy and a real mess once it died off.

Thomas and Toby skimmed all the turf off over 2 weekends and then this weekend Al & Tobe managed to take out all the trees and shrubs that were along there.

We have the stump munchers coming in this week to 'eat' the stumps so Al can level the area and lay some ready lawn.

Then I can get into the area in front of the garage and put my hedge the same as is in the other front garden and some bush roses.

Watch this space!

Katie spent a bit of time with the 2 wee girls from next door on Saturday, Wendy and Nicky, as their Mum wanted to walk the dog and the girls were too tired to go with her given the heat of the day. They are not used to this heat, they are here for 9 months from the North of England while their Dad is on Sabatical leave, and were finding the heat a bit hard going.

Saturday night we had friends for a bbq and sat outside all night it was such a lovely evening. NO cold easterly wind blowing which is typical for Christchurch.

Then to top off the beautiful evening I suggested our family sleeps out under the stars as it is very rare that we get an evening like we did.

Katie was a firm NO, and Al and the boys were keen, although very sceptical that I would go through with it.

All ready for a night outside!

We did just that, all night, and it was a great experience. Only the moon can be very annoyingly bright when you are trying to sleep outside! Not to mention the ridiculously loud sniffing noise hedgehogs make in the garden, along with the racket our 2 cats made play fighting around us all night!

Whew, that was Saturday in our house!
