The boys hit the trail..........

All ready to go at 8am.

At the weekend the boys went on an overnight tramp with their Scout Group.

They left Christchurch at 8.3am and headed an hour inland to Porters Pass and then started their 3 hour tramp into the Benmore Hut.

Heading up there somewhere!

They slept in tents as the hut up there only has 3 bunks in it and there were 11 in their group.

Sleeping quarters!

Chilling at the hut.

After having a very cold week in Christchurch, including snow on Friday (in November!) we knew they would have a cold night in a tent!

They shared the gear they had to carry in and out, including the 3 tents and their cooking equipment and food.

In the shelter the boys built

They had an awesome weekend, and arrived home, dirty and tired.

In the bush!

We are very lucky to have such dedicated Scout leaders in Julie and Peter that commit to enabling our boys to have these experiences.

Julie and her son Nic, who is 15, head off to South Africa with their packs on their backs at the end of this month for some tramping and wild safaris. We wish them safe and happy travels!
