Lunch with my boys

Today Al decided Toby should have a lie in and not go to work with him. (at the rate he was going he would have been going back to school for a holiday!) I of course didn't realise this and went into his room when going past it at 9am to open the curtains and window, and got a bit of a shock to see him asleep in his bed! I let him be and he awoke at nearly 10am which is amazing for Toby as he is up and at it bright as a button at 7am every day.

I decided to take the boys out for lunch and do some jobs while we were at it. We went to a pub/cafe near town and had a great lunch and chat. Both boys had the all day breakfast of Bacon, Eggs, etc while I had seafood chowder, my all time favourite and the meal of choice my sister Caroline and I always make whenever we get to have lunch together. We have tried just about every seafood chowder in Nelson over the years, when I have visited her!

Katie rang last night for a chat and was feeling a bit homesick again. Tiredness taking over I think. They had been on the go all day and luckily were given the choice to either head from town to the concert they were due to attend or head back on the train to their accommodation for an early night. 35 of the 50 went back for an early night all very pleased to have been given the choice. She said she was in bed by 9pm Australian time the earliest since their arrival.

Today she was back bright as ever and absolutely fizzing while she stood waiting for the Pope's arrival. She said the atmosphere was truly amazing and she said The Pope was just so lovely the way he smiled and waved to everyone all of the time. I watched the coverage of it on Sky News Australia and it was just as she described in her texts. She is at a theatrical concert tonight called "Columbian Youth Theatre of the Oppressed" and is performed by young people from Brazil, the Phillipines and NSW-Australia. She is absolutely loving it she told me at half time!

For my Father's extended family in Ireland that tune into my blog, I have posted below a photo of me with my Mother and sisters taken in November 2007 on the occasion of lunch in celebration of my sister Caroline's 50th Birthday. It was the first time we had been together since my Father died 8 years earlier, with not living in the same cities. My sister Catherine is on the left, then myself, my Mother, Caroline and Christine. As you can see we all Start with 'C' and end in 'ine' that was a quirky thing my father thought to do, so my Mother said. (Charlie is actually short for Charline)

Hi Charlie,
Glad you are enjoying my blog. I enjoy doing it too. Its a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. We would never have been in touch only for it. My son Craig is the complete opposite of Toby. I cannot get him up.He just got out of bed now and its 1:20pm. He is wasting his summer holidays from school. He is going to secondary in Sept its a rugby school called Christian Brothers.Talk soon and keep tuned in,Viv

Nice family photograph. I didn't know you had 3 sisters i just thought it was Caroline and Christine. I didn't know about Catherine.Isn't Toby great at getting up early. Craig is very bad at getting up since he got his school holidays. In fact he is like a live wire then when he does get up and wants to stay up all night. when he goes to bed he reads . He is reading books by Darren Shan at the moment. He starts secondary school 29th of August.eileen

I can see family likeness in yourself Charlie and your sister Caroline. Ye look like my mum Eileen and my aunt Thereas(mums younger sis)!! Keep up the good work. Rob was so jealous when he saw ye lived in Christchurch, big big rugby fan here with Rob. He spent ages writing up a blog about rugby last night. Check it out,

Hi Vivienne, yes I have read Rob's update and loved it and commented. I'm likewise with him supporting Munster.

Yes Eileen, Toby is one for the books, he is fastidiously tidy as is Katie, Thomas is our night owl, he will read in bed until midnight or later and up at 10am when I open the curtains and windows and freeze him out! And his bedroom is like a bombsite until I 'suggest' it isn't! He loves books by Christopher Paolini (Eragon & Eldest) The Rangers Apprentice Series by John Flanagan and now The Pagan Chronicles by Catherine Jinks.
